DevSecOps: Challenges and Solutions

DevSecOps is both a new way of thinking and a new way of working. It is reshaping how organizations innovate and quickly deliver positive business outcomes. As organizations go through this transformational journey, it is likely to encounter challenges that can be organized in three high level categories—Cultural, Leadership and Technical. ACT-IAC developed this whitepaper to document those challenges as well as offer possible solutions that have had some measure of success within federal organizations.
DevSecOps requires a willingness to embrace organizational change, promote leadership at all levels, and empower autonomous teams to make decisions and take ownership of their work. By prioritizing collaboration, communication, and automation, teams can create a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Ultimately, the success of a DevSecOps transformation relies on a holistic approach that addresses the technical, cultural and leadership aspects of the organization.
